There is no doubt that the new equipment that is coming out will help you hit the ball farther. The real question is how much farther? The major club makers like TaylorMade, Ping, and Nike are consistently tweaking their clubs to help you get those extra few yards.

How much farther you ask??? According to an article on the Golf Digest website, there were only 32 tour players at the 2007 Honda Classic that averaged over 290 yards in driving distance; this year there were 82!

What does this mean to you??? If you’re playing with clubs that are a few generations older then it may be time to stop trying to swing so hard and invest in some new technology.

The questions must be asked though… Do you think the distance the new equipment is giving golfers makes the game more fun, or does it take the skill away from the game?
